The wedding weekend begins…

That was my aisle...
We left Friday for the mountains. We were feeling so organized and prepared. I suppose that’s why we forgot so many things.
S was determined that his shirt be wrinkle-free and clean, so he hung it up on the trailer while we loaded the rest of our supplies. The Escape was about bursting at the seams. And when we called Ed hours later to ask if he could bring some items we realized we had forgotten…like the four strands of little white lights and the case of CDs to go with the stereo we had picked up for the house and the occasion, he offered to bring the shirts that were outside, blowing in the breeze. If not for Ed, S would have married me topless. (And you wouldn’t have seen me complaining. Topless is a good look…for him.)
I drove most of the way. We stopped to eat at Cookout…because mom had never been there and I wanted pork. I love me some barbecue sandwiches. (I only ate one.) And we stopped to go to the bathroom…because four hours is a long time for me to hold it and I needed a snack. (King Kones rule. Thank you, Good Humor!)
We checked into the cabin. We unloaded. We decorated some. We made sure that we had a stone circle for our bonfire and wood to burn. We met the other wedding party and checked out the fire circle that we almost picked. We weren’t sorry we had the marina. It wasn’t much of a trade off. I love water.
We did a little sightseeing, bringing mom to the dam. We stopped by the marina to finalize the plans for the wedding. And we stood back to admire the view. It was lovely. We checked out the boats that were docked at the little lakeside marina. There was a smaller sailboat. It had a mast. That was all that made it superior to ours. And there were some really cool looking houseboats. One was huge and I wanted a tour so very badly.
*sigh*
We went back to the cabin and put dinner in the over. This weekend was brought to us by Stouffers. We had their meat lasagna for the Friday night dinner. We had their mac and cheese, which always makes my belly ecstatic, at the reception.
While dinner cooked, S and I played Tracball. I forgot how much fun it was. I also forgot how much of a workout it was. And I was about breathless after about thirty minutes.
We had just finished dinner and clean up when I felt it. Jennie was here. It sounds strange, I know, but the only two people in the world that I can do this with are S and Jennie. So, I ran out the door to greet her. There was much girl squealing. And more unpacking. And wine drinking. And talking and joking.
Then Ed and Laura showed up with all our stuff.
So, I put Jennie and Ed to work. They had paperwork to sign. And I was feeling organized once more. Whew.
Though S and I planned to go see the stars that night, it didn’t quite work out. Our spot was under construction. We were lost in the dark. And we were pretty exhausted. It was time to go back to the cabin…once we found it…and go to bed.
