My first giveaway!

Author: thenicknick

rethinkwhatmattersBare Escentuals new campaign has women rethinking going bare in public.  And right now they are in the middle of a weekly contest.

Go to RethinkWhatMatters to enter.  It’s simple.  Answer five thought provoking, conversation stimulating questions on a given topic.  This week the topic of conversation is ”Rethink finding yourself.”  You could win a Smokey Eye Kit.  (And we all know that smokey eyes are all the rage!)

And when you’re done there come back and enter my giveaway…

I’m so very excited!  And you should be, too.  See, Bare Escentuals gave me a free lip gloss…wait for it…and one to give away to a lucky reader!

By now, you should know I’m a big fan of contests and giveaways.  And I’ve always wanted to host one.  It makes me feel so big!  The best part is, I’m a HUGE fan of lip gloss.  I don’t wear much makeup.  (Seriously, what beauty regimen?)  And yet I love my mineral makeup.

Bare Escentuals is a big believer in going bare…and so am I.  So I’m really excited about this lip gloss.  First, it’s 100% natural…or as I like to think of it…Rachel Approved.  I went to the link they gave me, telling me all about the lip gloss and discovered that they use “natural oils, butters, flower extracts and mineral colorants.”  And, just as important…the result is a buttery texture for supple lips and optimal color.   Oh, and it’s vanilla scented!

So, if you are interested in winning what promises to be my new favorite lip gloss, here’s what you have to do…

  1. Leave a comment on my blog telling me what you are doing about finding yourself.  (Hey, I’m on a journey of self-discovery and self-improvement, right?)

Oh, and would you look at that?  That’s it!  I like simple contests.  However…if you are on Twitter…I’d love it if you’d take a moment to follow me @thenicknick.

The contest will close on Friday, February 26th at midnight, EST.  The winner will be selected by Random.org.  I’ll notify you by email, so be watching!  I have to send in your color selection on Sunday, February 28th.

Can’t wait to read your comments!  And good luck to all of you.

PS. Feel free to spread the word.  Re-tweet away!  Facebook share.  However you share news…get on it!

I am always learning and reading in order to figure out more about myself!

I looked for myself in the phonebook, but it turns out I’m not listed. I found a lot of information about myself on my blog — probably more information than I really wanted to know — but aside from a pseudonymous gmail account, no real details on who I am. No name, no physical address. However, it’s pretty clear that I can be found somewhere in the Seattle area.

Maybe I should simply send an e-mail to that gmail account and ask for my physical address. I’m sure if I explain myself, I’d be more than happy to tell me where I can be found.

Inris is very funnny. I am getting out of my comfort zone and allowing myself to be uncomfortable for a bit. Only a good thing as there are so many things to explore, but now when you are sitting in your house.

Meredith says:

This year, I’m following along with The Mindfulist website to practice being more mindful, as well as trying to get back on the FlyLady band wagon. In both cases, I’m trying to become the best version of me. I’ve found that I’m all grown up now (seriously — I can *finally* say I’m a full-fledged adult with my sneaky little grays and slowly forming creases!) and have become a strong, independent-thinking woman who’s still got those unresolved issues from her past. By going within to change a little more from the inside out, I hope to close 2010 as the best version of Meredith ever. =)

I agree with you — what beauty regimen? ;) I generally only smear on some cover-up under my eyes to mask that lack of sleep. Sometimes, it even tricks a few people into thinking I’m well-rested! ;)

If I win, I’m giving this stuff to my 17 year old daughter!!!!

What I’m doing to find myself – I blog, I’m working on a novel, but most of all, I breathe deeply and pay a lot of attention to the feeling in my heart. The fuller, the better. And when anxiety creeps in, I take note!

I too have been doing a lot of reflecting on where I am right now ever since i turned 40 last year, seems “myself” got a little pushed to the back by being a wife and mother and its hard to figure out what “I” really want any more…this has been really tough for me but a great experience…

Doing something to find myself? It seems like one day everything flows and the next I feel like I’m in a black hole. I think that I need to work on me by doing things for myself rather than putting everyone else COMPLETELY first.

Keenie Beanie says:

As you know – career concerns are at the forefront of my mind at the moment. I’m having to answer some tough questions about what is important to me… a paycheck, or fulfillment… this is leading to contemplation of matters beyond employment.

Don says:

As you know Nik, I am where you were a few months ago…enough said. Though I still believe in this love, as the Zen Master says “we shall see”…I soothed my broken heart for the first 3 weeks with drunkeness, but that didn’t work and George gives me a headache. Pure desperation put me in a new realm of self discovery…I started breathing again. Then, I started reading again. I am now making time to work out with weights and practice martial arts in the afternoons again. I am studying Spanish online(para que estudias espanol? Not sure why, but always wanted to learn). I am negotiating on a new job in Charlotte with a great company. I have also discovered that i suck at cleaning my house when I live alone.(kinda knew that already, though). I am thinking about doing some writing of my own and expanding my horizons in as many areas as possible. Broken hearts make you do crazy things..and being alone gives you the time to get off your behind and do it!!
I hope to get a dog, but with the upcoming move, figure I better hold off on that.
I have discovered that I hate my cat, but will let it live as it is very annoying, but still cute.

PLEASE do not send me the lip gloss if, by some strange chance, I win. Cross dressing is not yet on my list so far…

Take care and God Bless

Dee says:

I am reading as much as I can and I am taking more risks. baby steps of course and obviously nothing illegal but I’ve always been too timid and I want to get out there and be an adventurous person and help out communities. I want to find myself outside of me and so I’m spending time educating myself so I can be the best me.

Kimberly says:

I’m trying to be a better wife and mother. I just can’t seem to find the time, but I don’t know what I’m doing with the time I DO have. It always seems that I’m too busy to do anything, but I’m not really DOING anything. Over the past year, I’ve learned that I spend too much time & effort @ work and not enough @ home. I’m trying to find a happy balance, but I just can’t seem to make it work.

Jolene says:

Oh contests! How very cool!

For me? I’m taking chances, stepping out of my comfort zone, and daring to grow a little bit stronger, a little bit more confident and a little bit happier each and every day.
