Things I like about the apartment…
Author: thenicknick
In an effort to maintain that attitude of gratitude, I’ve decided to focus on things I really like about the apartment. And there are things I really like about the apartment. Like…
- I like knowing that when the weather warms up again…there are two pools for me and the kids to hang out at. We are water people. That is all we need for a good day…a little sunshine and some pool time.
- It only takes me about half an hour to clean the apartment…as long as it’s already picked up first. (And I do a REALLY good job of that.) In fact…the apartment is ready for pictures.
- There is a TON of storage. Though everyone doubted that I’d be able to fit everything I owned from the house in the apartment, I did it. And big part of the reason why it was possible: two walk-in closets, two linen closets, a huge entry closet, a storage closet…see?
- We are but a short walk to the nearest library. (And I mean SHORT.) I won’t even work up a sweat, even carrying the laptop, and all my writing materials.
- We are but a short walk to Smoothie King. (And I was thinking about this. There’s a good possibility that Rachel might be able to find a summer job in what is essentially our back yard. She wouldn’t need a car even.)
- We are right around the corner from the post office and a bunch of FedEx drop boxes. (This is always a concern given that I have to drop off shipments several times a week.)
I know. I’m starting to sound like I’m grasping here. And in some ways I am. At the same time, I’m determined to see the positive in the move. So…major bright side…the kids and I are on our own. We have the stability we’ve lacked for such a long time. The change is good. And they don’t seem to mind the comforts that we lack. (Although I really have to invest in dishes soon, since we have two, yes 2, cereal bowls.) The cable isn’t missed. The Internet is coming…soon. The place is clean and cozy. We have each other and we’re creating our own routines, which pretty much means that we have no routine at all and embrace the craziness that is our life. Somehow, we’re happy.

I know! We’re just a couple of wild and crazy chicks, surfing the web at all hours of the day and night. Miss you, Auntie Shirl. (I may call you later, I’m much better today than I was last Sunday.
